Crystavia's winter programmes are structured around three principles: appropriate pacing, local expertise, and seasonal timing. Rather than attempting to cover maximum territory, we focus on creating depth of experience within selected regions.
Each programme operates during specific windows when winter conditions enhance rather than hinder the journey. Alaska's wildlife viewing peaks during certain months. Romania's medieval towns reveal their full character under snow. Bhutan's winter festivals occur according to lunar calendars we track closely.
The itineraries below represent our core programmes. We also design customised journeys for groups with particular interests or scheduling requirements.
Alaska Winter Safari
A comprehensive winter wilderness programme combining wildlife observation, Arctic activities, and glacier exploration. Operates December through March when winter conditions provide optimal animal viewing and snow coverage.

Days 1-3: Anchorage & Surrounding Region
Acclimatisation period covering glacier viewing, winter ecology introduction, and initial wildlife observation. Accommodation in Anchorage provides access to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Centre and Portage Glacier area.

Days 4-6: Katmai National Park

Days 7-9: Iditarod Region & Dog Sledding
